Linton Growing plant health policy

Linton Growing aims to operate in a manner which encourages good plant health as far as practicable at all points through the nursery cycle. This aim is captured in the Plant Health Policy and enacted through the Plant Health Management System.

Linton Growing’s plant health policy is summarised in the following points:

  • Creation and maintenance of a plant health management system
  • Engagement and cooperation across all levels of the business with the Plant Health Management System
  • Engaging all staff through awareness of plant health importance and individual responsibilities for plant health
  • Plant Health Lead to be up to date on the latest risks to plant health and active in communication of any new risks throughout the business
  • Plant Health Lead to be fully aware of any changes within policy or legislation relating to plant health
  • Plant Health monitoring system to be populated through regular crop walking and monitoring
  • Follow best practice for plant health management
  • Aim to reduce imported plant material from other countries where possible and where not possible (e.g. licensing) aim to take plants as early in the multiplication phase as possible to reduce the amount of plant material being moved between countries.
  • Where new plants are introduced into the nursery cycle a full inspection is required
  • Continual reviewing and refining of the plant health management system
